Waking up in the morning and walking directly onto the slopes from your hotel is just about as good as it gets. True ski-in, ski-out hotel access means you’re actually skiing to and from your accommodations. That quick trip to your room to rest and recount your day’s adventure(s) in front of a roaring fire, with your favorite beverage in hand, makes the cost worth every penny.
So, with another great ski season underway, we’re here to round up a few of our picks for the top ski-in, ski-out hotels in America. Note: Prices listed are generalities and change regularly.
The best ski-in, ski-out hotels in America
East
Vermont’s Sugarbush at Clay Brook offers luxury slopeside accommodations for the easiest mountain access to Sugarbush. Enjoy full ski valet, boot warming services, and in-room massages on request during the winter. Other amenities include underground valet parking, a private fitness room, an outdoor heated pool, and hot tubs. Bonus: Dog-friendly rooms are also available so you don’t have to leave Fido behind. Approximately $330 per night.
Killington’s Grand Resort in Vermont is Killington’s only full-service mountainside hotel featuring convenient ski-bridge access to the slopes from December to March (snow conditions permitting). Amenities include restaurants, a game room, a health club, a 75-foot outdoor heated pool, and two hot tubs. Rates from $230 per night.
Rounding out Vermont is the recently renovated Forbes 4-star Lodge at Spruce Peak in Stowe. The Lodge at Spruce Peak is Stowe’s only slopeside ski-in, ski-out destination, located at the base of Spruce Peak at Stowe Mountain Resort. Accommodations range from cozy studios with mountain views to spacious 4-bedroom penthouse residences complete with all the comforts of home. Amenities include a spa, fitness center, heated pool, and four on-property dining options. The lodge is steps away from Spruce Peak Village Center, where you can enjoy outdoor ice skating, an Adventure Center with an indoor climbing wall, shopping, and other dining options. Pets are welcome and receive their very own bed and chew toy upon arrival. Prices start at $330.
The Mountain Club on Loon is the only slopeside hotel featuring 234 recently renovated rooms at the base of New Hampshire’s Loon Mountain. After a day of play on the slope, kick back and relax in the casual Black Diamond Pub, swim in an outdoor or indoor pool, or take some “me” time to enjoy a treatment in the Viaggio Spa. Other amenities include fitness equipment, a game room, and in-room kitchen/kitchenettes. Costs start around $144 per night.

Midwest
MountainTop, at Michigan’s Crystal Mountain, offers accommodations with panoramic views and ski-in/ski-out convenience overlooking the beautiful Betsie River Valley and beyond. Bring your own s’mores to take advantage of the outdoor fire pits after a day of skiing. Note that in the Midwest, ski-in/ski-out has a little bit of a different meaning. At MountainTop, it means being within 500 feet of the slopes and/or lifts. Prices start at about $259.
In Minnesota, Eagle Ridge Resort offers ski-in/ski-out access to the Lutsen Mountains. Rooms include the newly renovated Fireplace Studio, outfitted with a queen bed, sofa sleeper, and fireplace. If you’re traveling with friends or family, upgrade to the elite, two-bedroom, or three-bedroom condo. Amenities include an outdoor pool, hot tub, and fitness center.
West
The Little Nell is Aspen‘s only five-star, five-diamond, ski-in/ski-out hotel at the base of Aspen Mountain, featuring luxurious amenities, personalized service, terrific mountain views, renowned dining, and spacious accommodations. It’s hard to leave The Little Nell with amenities like an outdoor heated pool and hot tub and fine dining experiences like Element 47. However, its location can’t be beat, in the heart of downtown Aspen, and just steps from the Silver Queen Gondola. Rates start at $600 per night.
Deer Valley’s St. Regis Hotel is on a mountain ridge in the Snow Park area of this luxury resort in Park City, Utah. The St. Regis Deer Valley offers ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes and lifts via a ski run that’s off to the side of the main mountain. A Swiss-built funicular with leather seating scales the 230-vertical-foot ridge where the hotel is perched. Skiers coming down the Deer Hollow run have the option of sliding into the hotel’s ski valet station. St. Regis’ amenities also include the 14,000 square-foot Remède Spa, a 3,000 square-foot fitness facility overlooking a year-round, outdoor bi-level pool flanked with hot tubs and featuring serene mountain views. Or simply enjoy being in your custom-designed guest room. Prices roll up from $500 per night.
Beaver Creek’s Park Hyatt ski-in/ski-out location is in the heart of this luxurious sister resort to Vail. The hotel is right next to the Centennial Express Lift. Aside from skiing and riding, there’s always some well-earned downtime available at the spa, fitness center, outdoor heated pool, and numerous hot tubs overlooking the mountains. Other amenities include electric car charging, restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, and more. Prices range upward from $368 per night.
Madeline Hotel & Residences in Telluride is framed by the 14,000-foot Rocky Mountain peaks from its setting in Telluride’s Mountain Village. The Forbes five-star, slopeside resort brings still another new tier of luxury to the destination. Headlining amenities include the hotel’s restaurant and rooftop pool, while it’s a short walk to the gondola that takes you into town. This is truly a ski-in, ski-out to Telluride’s famed slopes. Prices start at $629 per night.
Jackson Hole is home to the Four Seasons Resort, located in Teton Village. It’s rated 5-star by Forbes and AAA gives it their 5-star Diamond Service. You’ll find the lifts located right next door for convenient slope access. Hotel amenities include a fitness center, spa, yoga, pool, and dining, which is just the beginning of the hotel’s great amenities. Guest rooms, suites, and private residences are available. Prices start at about $622 per night.
The Blake at Taos, named after the legendary ski resort founders Ernie and Rhoda Blake, reflects the uniqueness of Taos. The Blake is an 80-room alpine guesthouse adjacent to Lift 1, featuring well-appointed rooms and sophisticated suites, and centrally located among the retail shops and dining establishments of Taos’ base area. Enjoy on-site dining at the 192, and take advantage of the spa and wellness center, heated pool, and hot tubs for some R&R. Rooms start at about $275 per night.
Selkirk Lodge at Sandpoint, Idaho’s Schweitzer Mountain, is a slopeside 82-room European-styled lodge in the heart of the resort village. Suites and mini-suites are available. Look for ski/board storage, a pool, hot tubs, full-service lounge. Rates start at about $185 per night.
Far West
California’s Mammoth Mountain Inn, a quintessential slopeside hotel at Mammoth, provides stunning mountain views and ski-in/ski-out activity into May and beyond. Mammoth Mountain Inn also offers a full-service restaurant, bar, and coffee shop, and is just steps away from Mammoth’s Main Lodge, ski school, and the Panorama Gondola. But that’s just the beginning; look for the game room, fitness center, heated pool, outdoor hot tubs, and several indoor tubs. Rates start at $149 per night.
Further up the Sierras, just a few miles north of Lake Tahoe, The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe boasts ski-in and ski-out access to all that Northstar California has to offer. The mid-mountain luxury hotel features a 17,000-foot spa, a mountainside heated pool, California-inspired dining experiences, and mountain concierge services. The Village at Northstar California is accessed from the hotel by an intermountain gondola. Explore nearby shopping and dining in the Village and historic downtown Truckee. Prices are $639 per night and up.
In the Pacific Northwest, you can nearly ski right into Timberline Lodge, located on the south side of Mt. Hood. Movie fans may recognize the exterior of Timberline from The Shining. The historic property exudes rustic charm and feels a little bit like stepping back in time with its massive wood decor and stone fireplace that rises three stories high. Enjoy après with a view of Mt. Hood at Ram’s Head Bar, and don’t miss the heated outdoor pool and hot tub.
